This new & refreshing kind of take & treatment to this already known & filmed story is the most appreciating part of this version. And lastly there's another strange part of it and that's the Town itself! It looks like the town hasn't really age after all this years!! May be for the homage issue but though the film is set on late 2013, it still got the 70s vibe almost all over it.
On May 3, a bullet fired from outsdie the home of Virgil Sparks killed him. But she escaped as the Phantom ripped open a screen door to get into the house. Polly Ann Moore, 17, and Richard Griffin, 29, were parked on a lonely road near Texarkana on March 29, 1946.
None of the guns that Tennison would have had access to matched the bullets used in the Phantom murders. Furthermore, Craig said that he had not taught Tennison how to drive a car until the summer of 1947. Max Tackett, a 33-year-old Arkansas State Police officer, a rookie at the time, realized that a car had been stolen on the night of one of the murders, and that a previously stolen car had been found abandoned. On Friday, June 28, 1946, Tackett found a car in a parking lot that had been reported as stolen. He staked out the car until someone came back to it, then arrested a 21-year-old woman, Peggy Swinney.
The little northeast Louisiana town of 4,000 slept fitfully in lighted rooms behind double-locked doors, with loaded weapons close at hand. Mrs. Tennison was visiting in Parsons when notified of her son's death. These three deaths and two others had been attributed to the "Phantom" who kept the Texarkana community in a state of "nerves" for weeks. Arkansas and Texas officers were to check the fingerprints of the student, H. B. Tennison, 18, Texarkana, Ark., with prints they had that might have been left by the mysterious slayer.
The killer’s MO remained the same throughout the attack. They always happened late at night, on weekends, in isolated areas. Three couples were attacked on a deserted road, while another was attacked inside their home. During the attack on the path of the three lovers, the female victim was sexually assaulted, but it is not known if the same fate awaited Katie Starks, because she managed to escape.
I gave it a 9 because the killings, when they do happen, are rather graphic. The filming is awesome and the plot has some twists in so you are left guessing till the last minute. Tennyson’s brothers agreed with this argument and loved to tell ‘doody’ stories.
There are too many inconsistencies surrounding this discovery. Where was it found (by Martin's car or where Youell changed his clothes)? In summary, not much is known about the address book, it was never officially mentioned by Bill Presley and out of thousands of records and documents, it's only barely mentioned in passing in one FBI file. It's also strange that it was never checked for fingerprints, and despite James Presley's book which claims officers were convinced of Swinney's guilt, Bill Presley and the Texas Rangers were NOT convinced of his guilt . In the first week of May, the Phantom Killer attacked what are his last official victims, a husband, and wife, in their farmhouse northeast of town. In 1946, a sadistic killer dressed in a white mask terrorized the small town of Texarkana at night. Texarkana, a small town that straddles the state line between Texas and Arkansas, is also known as The Town That Dreaded Sundown, thanks to the 1976 horror flick of the same name. Griffin was found between the front seats on his knees, with his head resting on his crossed hands and his pockets turned inside out; Moore was found sprawled face-down in the back seat. There is evidence that suggests she was placed there after being killed on a blanket outside the car.
