Remember to read EVERY word in the passage, even the words that you are not sure how to pronounce. When you practice at home, use the dictionary to check the correct pronunciation of unfamiliar words or try finding the definition online. Online dictionaries such as Cambridge Dictionaries Onlineand Oxford Dictionaries Online offer  the recorded reading of a word and you can easily listen to how a word is read. The new term has started and things are going to be fast and furious, especially for the Primary 6 pupils.
Honing this skill will prepare them accordingly to face the world as a competent speaker in the English language. The preparations towards the English PSLE Oral Examinations set out to develop these very skills needed for students to communicate effectively. There’s no maximum, but I’d recommend you need to spend at least 2-3 hours a week speaking English if you want to improve. Stress refers to the emphasis placed on a word to make it stand out. Generally, the words that are stressed on are adjectives, verbs and adverbs. Let’s see what effect proper stress has on one’s reading. Try reading out loud the following out with emphasis on the words in bold. One way to practise pronunciation is by reading some tongue twisters.

However, to excel in PSLE English, students need to ensure that they are confident in securing full marks for the Listening Comprehension section. Since the MCQs often contain similar answer options, students often face difficulties choosing the most suitable answer as they are unable to identify key differences.
