New C8 Corvette

The 70th Anniversary Edition package brings a choice of two unique exterior colors, White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat and Carbon Flash Metallic. Buyers can option racing stripes in Satin Gray for the white paint job or Satin Black with the Carbon Flash look. The package also includes special wheels—with different designs for Stingrays and Z06s—which have a dark finish and a red stripe around the perimeter. The 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe marks the debut of the eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette codenamed C8, replacing the seventh-generation Corvette codenamed C7. Unlike every previous model generation, the C8 Corvette is based on a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive platform, ditching the front-engine layout of its predecessors.
Only a couple hundred coupes and a single convertible were factory-equipped this way in 1963. For 1966, Chevrolet introduced an even larger 427 cu in (7.00 L) Big Block version. Other options available on the C2 included the Wonderbar auto-tuning AM radio, AM-FM radio (mid-1963), air conditioning (late-1963), a telescopic steering wheel , and headrests . The Sting Ray's independent Corvette C8 rear suspension was successfully adapted for the new-for-1965 Chevrolet Corvair, which solved the quirky handling problems of that unique rear-engine compact. The mid-engine C8 Corvette remains a pure two-seater, and the futuristic interior comes lined with materials such as leather, real metal trim, and imitation suede; it even has a fancy stitched headliner.

The C8 Corvette is a mid-engine sports car and as such, it doesn't feature much in the way of ground clearance. At just 3.19 inches , the C8 Stingray's ride-height is one of the lowest of any mid-engine sports car. Modifications were always a part of the Corvette experience as many owners want to make the car truly their own. The C8 Corvette is closer to exotic cars than any other 'Vette, but it's still an American, V-8-powered sports car. Unlike Ferrari, GM will not frown upon you for making your C8 different and unique. Moreover, there are certain areas where the C8 Corvette could use a few touch-ups, many of which are both aesthetic and functional.
The graphics on the onboard navigation system look like they were made by Atari and there’ wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Lexus LC 500’s interior is adorned in Alcantara and leather, as expected. The Corvette’s cockpit-style interior looks cool, but I’m not a huge fan of the divider in the center console or the row of buttons on top of it. The hardcore Z06 is about to drop in the US, armed with a 5.5-litre naturally-aspirated double overhead cam flat-plane crank V8 making 493kW of power – the most of any production-series V8 engine in history. Everything about the C8 Corvette is revolutionary – except for the engine. The LT2 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 is in its fifth-generation form but with better performance than earlier iterations.
The LT2’s cam phasing, which alters intake and exhaust timing together, is about the same as before. The rest of the valvetrain is carryover from LT1 as is the LT2’s rev limiter, which remains at 6600 rpm. 2006 – Driven by cycling champion Lance Armstrong; first Corvette Z06 pace car; no production replicas produced. The last C7 Corvette (also making it the last front-engined Corvette), a black Z06, was auctioned off on June 28, 2019, for $2.7 million at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast auction.
Chevy wasn’t done tweaking things, though, as C1’s last model year saw it fitted with a new rear end, the first to feature the nameplate’s signature quad-taillights. General Motors executives later gave Shepard a 1972 model with a Bill Mitchell interior. Jim Rathmann, a Melbourne, Florida Chevrolet dealer and winner of the 1960 Indy 500, befriended astronauts Shepard, Gus Grissom, and Gordon Cooper.

Forget everything you thought you knew about American sports cars. The more expensive and sportier Z06’s LT6 5.5-liter V8 engine exhales 670 hp at a screaming 8,400 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque to hit 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. Both these engines use a new 8-speed DCT gearbox for lightning-fast shifts and efficient power transfer. The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette starts at $65,895 and fares with the likes of the Porsche 911, Audi R8, and some top-notch supercars like the McLaren 765 LT, Ferrari 296 GTB, and Lamborghini Aventador.
This model includes Z06 wide-body styling features and suspension tuning along with the Z51 dry sump LT1 engine configuration. The new Z06 arrived as a 2006 model in the third quarter of 2005. At 427.6 cubic inches, the Z06 was the largest small block ever offered by General Motors. Because of the Corvette's former use of 427 cubic-inch big blocks in the late-1960s and early 1970s, the LS7's size was rounded down to 427 cubic inches. Official output was 505 hp and has a 0–60 mph (0–97  km/h) time of 3.7 seconds.

As we are sure you know, used car prices have gone through the roof but the same can be said for new cars and especially models like the C8. Since the Corvette offers such an appealing package, customers rushed to buy the new vehicle, but the chip shortage meant that demand outweighed supply. Therefore, Chevrolet could not provide enough vehicles for customers. This leads to two things, insanely high used prices, and insane dealer markups, enough to turn off a few potential buyers.
That process will continue, i.e., every dealer will continue to have the ability to look at your order status  on their software system. One physical button I appreciate in particular is the one dedicated to activating the front and surround-view cameras. It's easily accessible at the front of the center console, just below the screen. A lot of other vehicles hide this feature in menus which can be difficult to access quickly. I prefer this dedicated button that can be  tapped for instant camera access and peace of mind when squeezing into a parking spot. Priced to compete in a class seemingly of its own, the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is a mid-engine bargain.

Chevy introduced the E-Ray as the first AWD and hybrid Corvette  to mark its 70th anniversary. The E-Ray uses a 495-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine paired to a 1.9 kWh battery and a 160-hp high-performance electric motor to amass 655 hp and form an e-AWD system. Chevrolet claims the E-Ray is capable of reaching 0-60 mph in a mere 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest Corvette. The eight-generation Corvette marks the introduction of the much-needed mid-engined layout, making it the most cutting-edge Vette to date. Since the engine is the heaviest part of a car, the handling and driving dynamics depend on its positioning.
The two-seat roadster uses fiberglass body panels and relies on Chevy's tried-and-true Blue Flame inline-six for motivation. While the six-cylinder powerplant produces 115 horses in Chevy's sedan, the bow-tie brand tunes the engine to make 150 ponies in the Corvette. A two-speed automatic is the only transmission offered, and all of the cars are painted Polo White and wear a red interior. Chevrolet produces 300 Corvettes in 1953 and sells just 183 of them. Assign blame to the vehicle being neither civilized enough to be a true grand tourer nor engaging enough to appeal to the sports-car crowd. The driver almost feels isolated from the passenger, with everything facing the left side.
